COPRESIDA and Foundation AID for AIDS sign agreement. Hatuey

Presidential AIDS Council (COPRESIDA) and the Foundation AID for AIDS (AFA) signed an agreement to promote strategies to improve living conditions of People Living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA) in order to strengthen the national response to the epidemic.

The agreement was signed on a Memorandum of Understanding by Dr. Gustavo Rojas Lara, Director of COPRESIDA, Mr. Jesus Aguais, Executive Director of AID FOR AIDS International and the architect Rafael Ricart Nouel, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation Dominican AID for AIDS.

The signing of the agreement, AID for AIDS Foundation announced a donation of antiretroviral drugs for opportunistic infections and valued at 5 million pesos to COPRESIDA.

Dr. Rojas Lara said that with the incorporation of the Foundation extending the range of the National Response and strengthen the actions of both prevention and care.

"The idea is to cover the gaps in access to medicines that face people who are on ART or those who need it and can not acquire," the official said.
The actions envisaged in the agreement will be oriented to access to treatment programs, prevention, training health professionals and program of comprehensive care for children and adolescents.
